Hi, it’s Jane here, a Certified Public Accountant and running my own business. Indeed, jumping out from the corporate world and start-up your own business, is never an easy decision. But I did it and turned my passion into profits. A real work-life balance, which means I can benefit the privileges of being an Executive, while also enjoying a good lifestyle, especially more time with the family which matters most.
One of the most common questions that the people around me would ask is: “How you a married woman with a little boy, by your side, (my son was just 3 years old when I started to run my own business), would choose to leave your executive position and start up your business that involves a lot of grunt works?? ”
For some people, entrepreneurship is something very big and is a risky thing too. This is true, especially for an accountant like me, who are trained to be conservative as you are the one to look after the bottom line of the financial.
Creating Values
But for me, entrepreneurship isn’t just about money. And I don’t have the ambitious to create influences to the world like Bill gates and Steve Jobs. One of the top reasons I decided to run my own business is I love the feeling of creating values and share with people around. And of course the freedom…freedom of making my decision, freedom to choose whom I work with, not just business partners, but also vendors, sometimes, clients too! (Of course, I’m not that cherry pick in this respect), not to say the freedom of time with my family.
Who am I?
Well, I’m not born from an entrepreneurship family, nor from a wealthy family that can support my living without a limit. I’m a Certified Accountant, and received my accounting education since Form 3 (Grade 9) and graduated with a Degree in Accountancy from a University. Right after that, I received two very good offers from the big 4 international CPA firms and that’s how I started my career.
After obtaining the accredited accounting qualification with the required experience, I got another good offer from a commercial firm, and that’s where I found my interest in the internet and e-commerce things. Despite the local and global financial turmoil during those years, I was still promoted once a year, on average, and climbed to the top management level. What does it tell you? Passion means everything. And I believe I can turn passion into profits!
Having spent 12 years there, I decided to jump out and create my own business, and I started my jewelry business! Yes, I’m a jewelry lover! The work life of being an accountant is too boring for me and I need the “bling bling” to sparkle up my life!
I am always described as an ambitious, results-focused and resourceful person. A strong work ethic and an abroad range of experience allows me to expand my business further into the event and wedding planning sector. And now, I decided to further expand my reach to people who carry a professional qualification and executive’s experience like me, and help them build a great business yet able to enjoy a balanced lifestyles. And that is how I set up an online Executive Club called “Achiever’s Minds” by sharing daily resource of tips and tools along this direction, and the brilliant guides from around-the-world experts!
